Author Janice Young Brooks has published several historical novels, including Seventrees, Glory, and Guests of the Emperor, which was made into a television movie of the week entitled Silent Cries.
Guests of the Emperor
Privileged and innocent, they thought they were protected from the ravages of the Second World War. But when Singapore fell early to the Japanese, there was no escape and hundreds of British and American women were sent to an isolated prison camp, as guests of the Emperor." Terrified, outraged, and abandoned, four very different women must find the strength of survival from deep within--to fight the enemy with their spirit, passion, and the dream of freedom.
My best historical. It was an 'important' book I wish everyone could read. The movie made of it runs occasionally on the Lifetime Channel. It comes in two different cover treatments.
