Main Characters

Richard: I was married to Maxine for a number of years. When we first met, I never knew she was hiding so much from me. Our life together started out with a lot of smiles and laughter, but after numerous miscarriages, she began to mentally crumble. That's when I was forced to hire psychiatrists; none of which were able to help her.

I had given Maxine my life and oftentimes she wanted to take mine away from me. I desperately needed an outlet and that's when I met Basics. She was able to temporarily take years of frustrating circumstances off my mind and helped me to keep the little bit of sanity I had left. Though she is a beautiful woman, our relationship was strictly Platonic. Of course, she would find ways to try to seduce me. But I remained faithful to my vows. Basics didn't care for that at all, but she understood my position as a married man and tried her best to respect it.

I couldn't tell Maxine about my new female friend, but because of her keen sense of smell, she found out anyway. My carelessness caused me a great deal of discomfort due to Maxine's insecurities, and that's why the need to see Basics more often was becoming a habit I didn't want to break.

While life for me became one big headache after another, I learned some disturbing news about Maxine that shook my world; something I'm sure no man wants to learn about the woman he loves.

Maxine: People say I’m crazy. Even so, was I delusional when I smelt another woman’s fragrance on my Richard?

Basics: Am I the other woman? Let me see here. Ah, yep. Well, that’s what Richard’s wife thought. But really, we were just good friends. Nonetheless, whenever Richard and I were alone, I would get this urge to sexually tear him to shreds. But he was so faithful to his marriage that I was the one taking the cold showers in the middle of the day.

Troy: Listen. Thanks to my mother, my birth certificate says that my real name is Destroy. You see, I come from an extremely dysfunctional family. But hey, I’m sane. Okay, maybe a tiny bit of their ways got into me. Anyway, Basics and I are best friends, and I was fortunate enough to go with her on vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands where I met Marcus. I was engaged to this other guy who decided to sleep with my sleazy cousin and who still thinks that I should forgive and forget what he did to my heart. Well, my trip to the islands proved to me that I didn’t have to sit around letting my aching heart put me into a coma. Instead, I fell in love with Marcus and we are practically inseparable now.

Marcus: I’m Richard’s only sibling, and I know my brother pretty well. So, I know he won’t say it like this, but, Maxine is a bona fide psycho. Then, strangely enough, I’m a divorce attorney by profession; yet, I couldn’t keep my ex-fiancée from seeking the affections of another man. But that’s okay. Don’t feel sorry for me. You see, that left me vulnerable and available to fall in love with Troy. This lady have her hooks in me so deep that if I move ever so slightly, I truly believe that I would bleed to death.
